Cabbage Pudding

When the master himself is in the cuisine!

My husband is preparing one of his favorite Swedish dishes, "Kålpudding" or "Cabbage pudding" , fried cabbage with minced meat, baked in the oven.

Here is a step by step demonstration by my hubby!

It is a delicious and nutritious dish, you should try it.

Ingredients:


  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 1 head green cabbage, cored and shredded

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 500 grams ground beef

  • 1 big yellow onion, chopped

  • ½ cup heavy cream

  • 1 vegetable stock

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tablespoon syrup

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

Here's how to prepare it:

  • Preheat the oven to 200 C

  • Chop the cabbage and fry it in oil until they are soft and golden.

  • Add salt, pepper and syrup.

  • Mix the minced meat with the chopped onion, cream, soy sauce, salt & pepper.

  • Place half of the cabbage mixture at the bottom of the pan.

  • Put the meat in the middle and finally cover it with the rest of the cabbage mixture.

  • Bake for 45 minutes.
