Sweden’s famous cinnamon buns or rolls. This traditional Swedish "kanelbullar" ( cinnamon buns) recipe is made with a perfectly soft and chewy dough, a buttery cinnamon-sugar filling.

"Kanelbullar" or cinnamon buns are a classic at Swedish coffee parties or "fika"s.

If you are invited to someone’s home for coffee, you always get a cinnamon bun, that is very typical :)

Ingredients:

1½ cups warm milk

1 tablespoon of yeast

2 tablespoons sugar

3 cups of flour

½ teaspoon of salt

3 tablespoons of sugar

2 eggs

4 tablespoons of melted butter

1 teaspoon of vanilla

For the filling:

2 tablespoons of butter

4 tablespoons of cinnamon

4 tablespoons of brown sugar

Here is how to make it:

-Mix the milk with the yeast & sugar and put it in a warm place till you get a nice foam.

-Using a mixer, blend the dry ingredients all together in a large bowl.

-Add the eggs gradually , butter and finally the milk mixture.

-You will have a soft fluffy dough, you can use your hands if you want to.

-Leave it to prove for an hour or till it doubles in size.

-Knead the dough by making a rectangular shape.

-Spread butter all over it.

-Sprinkle the cinnamon & sugar.

-Roll the dough and cut it into equal sizes.

-Transfer the rolls into a buttered cup cake pan.

-Cover them and leave to rest for 30 minutes.

-Bake in preheated oven 200C until golden brown.

-If you can resist and not eat them all, you can freeze them and reheat in the oven or microwave and they will be equally fresh, soft & delicious as they were the day you baked them:)

Let me know how they turn out!
